A Paid Companion is a part-time paid position, providing non-medical services, to support individuals experiencing the limiting effects of aging to have an optimal quality of life.
We are looking for dependable, compassionate, self-directed individuals who enjoy working with older adults; and who have a desire to care for, assist, and work as a companion with senior clients in their homes. Previous work with seniors and/or those with dementia is a plus. This position requires a background check and ongoing education and training. Immediate, flexible, part-time positions available.
Companions can provide caregivers and their loved ones continued independence. Our companions support individuals who may need just a little extra day-to-day help to remain safe and comfortable at home. We serve families who give continuous care to older adults (age 55 and over), as well as individuals living on their own without another caregiver.
Responsibilities
Support individuals through going for walks, making meals, going shopping, and other tasks that will optimize the individual’s life and support the caregiver in knowing that their loved one has that special attention. The companion is not a healthcare worker nor a housekeeper (though some light housekeeping may be involved). Their role is supportive task accomplishment.
Non-medical Companion Services Include:
- Companionship: conversation and participation in social and recreational activities
- Meal planning and preparing
- Assist to personal appointments
- Grocery shopping
- Light housekeeping, laundry and organizing
- Assistance with pet care (conditional)
- Hospital Companion
Companions May Not:
- Assist with or administer any medications
- Assist with grooming, dressing, toileting, oral hygiene, hair care, bathing or eating
Day, evening, and weekend shifts are available. Currently no overnight shifts are available. A 2-hour minimum is required per shift.

To keep our companions and clients as safe as possible, we provide masks, hand sanitizer, gloves and sanitizing wipes. Companions must wear masks whenever they are with a client and when in the client’s home and ask health questions prior to shift start. Working in this position, Companions are elligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine as an essential worker.
